1. Agreement and scope
These Terms of Use apply to the Reef Focus app, its widgets and system extensions, Study Groups, and this website. “We,” “us,” and “Reef Focus” refer to Reef Labs, the developer and operator of Reef Focus.
By downloading, accessing, or using Reef Focus, you agree to these terms and the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use Reef Focus. If you are not legally able to agree for yourself, a parent or legal guardian must agree for you.
2. App Store license
Reef Focus is licensed, not sold. Apple’s Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement (Standard EULA) governs your license to the app and is incorporated into these terms. These website terms supplement the Standard EULA for Reef Focus features and services. If they conflict, the Standard EULA controls for the licensed app.
3. Productivity tools
Timers, goals, reminders, streaks, trends, Screen Time controls, study suggestions, pet unlocks, and summaries are productivity aids. They may be delayed, interrupted, recalculated, or unavailable because of device state, permissions, iOS behavior, connectivity, or service changes. Do not rely on Reef Focus for emergency, safety-critical, medical, legal, or financial decisions.
4. Reef+ products and included features
Reef+ may be offered as an auto-renewable annual subscription and as a one-time, non-renewing purchase labeled “Lifetime.” The exact product, price, currency, duration, trial eligibility, and included features are displayed in Reef Focus before you confirm a purchase. Features that require an additional purchase are identified on the purchase screen.
“Lifetime” means one-time Reef+ access for the supported life of Reef Focus on compatible devices using the Apple Account that made the purchase. It does not mean the purchaser’s lifetime, guarantee permanent availability of every individual feature, or include separate products not shown as part of the offer.
5. Auto-renewal, trials, cancellation, and refunds
Payment is charged to your Apple Account when you confirm the purchase. An annual subscription renews automatically for another annual period unless you turn off auto-renewal at least 24 hours before the current period ends. Apple may charge your account for renewal within 24 hours before the end of the current period at the renewal price shown by Apple.
If Apple shows you a free trial and you are eligible, the subscription converts to a paid annual subscription when the trial ends unless you cancel before then. Trial availability is determined by Apple and may vary by account or storefront.
You can manage or cancel the subscription in your Apple Account subscription settings. Deleting Reef Focus does not cancel a subscription. You can restore eligible purchases from the purchase screen in Reef Focus. Apple administers billing and refund requests under its policies; you can request a refund through Apple’s services. These terms do not limit any refund or consumer right that cannot legally be limited.
6. Study Groups and acceptable use
You may not misuse Reef Focus, interfere with its operation, attempt unauthorized access, reverse engineer it except where law expressly permits, abuse support channels, use Study Groups to harass others, or violate any law or another person’s rights.
You are responsible for the group names, display names, goals, invitations, and other text you create or share. Group icons and colors are selected only from Reef Focus presets in this release. Group owners and administrators may remove members to manage misuse. Members can report or block another participant in the app. You can also report abusive or unlawful use through the support page; reports are reviewed and acted on promptly.
7. Apple and third-party services
Some features rely on Apple iCloud, CloudKit, StoreKit, Screen Time, MapKit, notifications, Apple Intelligence, and other system services, as well as limited external services such as the MET Norway Weather API, FormSubmit, and the website’s hosting providers. Weather data is provided by MET Norway under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International license. Reef Focus formats the forecast, converts wind units, and derives the displayed feels-like value. Those services have their own terms and may change or become unavailable independently of Reef Focus.
The in-app ocean soundscape is an MP3 transcode of “Oceanwavescrushing.ogg”, a field recording by Luftrum, licensed under Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 Unported. Wikimedia Commons transcoded the original Ogg Vorbis recording to MP3.
8. Features, pets, and availability
Reef Focus may add, improve, suspend, or remove features, offers, challenges, visual effects, or limited companions as the app and Apple platforms evolve. We do not guarantee that every cosmetic or dependent service will remain available indefinitely. We will preserve earned progress and paid access where reasonably possible and as required by applicable law and App Store rules.
9. Intellectual property
Reef Focus, its artwork, marine companions, branding, interface, text, and software are owned by or licensed to Reef Labs and are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. These terms grant only the limited personal-use license described above.
10. Disclaimer and liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Reef Focus is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties beyond those that cannot legally be excluded. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Reef Labs is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive losses arising from use of Reef Focus. Nothing in these terms limits rights or remedies that cannot be limited under applicable consumer law or Apple’s Standard EULA.
11. Suspension and termination
You may stop using Reef Focus at any time. We may restrict access to connected or collaborative features when reasonably necessary to address abuse, security, legal requirements, or material violations of these terms. Terms that by their nature should survive termination will continue to apply.
12. Changes and contact
We may update these terms as Reef Focus evolves or legal requirements change. The effective date at the top will be updated when revised terms are published. Material changes may also be communicated in the app or on this website.
